Smiley's Save the day.

Yahoo! Super Episodes, (then click “INCOMMUNICADO ISLE” on the left window pane.)

“Super Messengers” from Yahoo.Com is totally cool. These artists used a comic-book approach to their flash animation. Just as one would read in a comic strip in a newspaper or magazine, these creative smiley personifications of super hero’s help save the day! The story line involves a prisoner who had fun at a night club but got into a little trouble. The Yahoo! smiley super hero’s help save the day by hinting at a new product Yahoo! offers via their text messaging services.

This approach is very unique in that it takes a comic-book-style approach to animation. The colors used in this creative movie are similar to the familiar looks of Japanese animes and your classic collectable color comic books.

Each scene is told using a variety of ‘slides’ as opposed to the traditional flash animations that were written about previously this semester.

In all, the classic comic-book style approach to this flash animation is very effective in regards to marketing Yahoo!’s new services to audiences young and old as both market niches can easily relate.

Corporate America and It's Logos

MuddBubble.Com (and click Smash)

This flash movie makes cute and quirky comments that oppose and even exaggerate some of the corporate American norms all to the sound of a catchy American tune “I’m a Believer”. The heads of top executives are pasted on cartoon bodies that dance and sway throughout the movie. The mouths are cut-out portions that make them appear as puppets – is this perhaps a feel that the designers of this movie want to portray?

The colors used in this flash movie are childish and fun, bright and flashy. This movie’s design team was surely aimed at making this movie fun, bright and comical piece that shows off some of the imperfections seek in corporate America. The branding of the GM logo on one employee and the logo tees seen in the beginning give the user a confirmed sense of the importance of branding. Later on, the audience views “The Marketing Machine” poking more fun at the use of branding during huge events like the Olympics.

This comical flash movie does a great job expressing the importance of branding that corporate America presses on to it’s consumers. After having fun with this video, the user can easily reflect on how silly some of the branding techniques seem.

A MUST SEE!!!

Skyscraping Shapes

This flash video is one of the most unique videos that I have seen. It opens up with just a simple drawing, but as the movie goes on, the drawing turns into new shapes, and then becomes an office building with furniture and wallpaper.

These simple designs become complex as more and more is added to the drawing. An entire city appears as the movie continues.

The colors used are real primary in nature. As the movie continues, the palette gains a slight complexity – yet staying simple in nature.

Happy ThanksGiving

Happy Thanksgiving Greeting from MSN

I absolutely had to write about this because it fit so well with the upcoming holiday season, and it's really funny.

This movie features a popular 70's song with modified lyrics fit for the Thanksgiving holiday. "I Will Survive" is sung by African American turkeys with the flavor of the 70's. The turkeys are singing inside a barn with a disco-ball and dancers galore!

The disco ball is reflecting colors of the season thought the barn like a converted dance hall. The animation is very creative and original using themes directly derived from the 70's dance era while adding in modern clean humor.

The lyrics make this movie a hilarious bit hinting at the same theme regarding women’s rights - consistent with the theme of the original song only in 'turkey talk'.

Promenade The Puzzle by Michele Dauria

Ths the best artistic flash movie I have ever written about. It starts off with a Halloween-style cartoon character wearing black and smoking a cigarette with a long pipe attachment.

My first impression of the film leads me to the "Nightmare before Christmas" cartoon viewed when I was a child. The backdrop and cartoons in the movie resembled a mysterious night. The waves of black ribbon, the glowing eyes of the black cat in the rafters cut through the black backdrop as to show something... someone... is watching.

Emotional moments were highlighted with the spotlight on the character - a lanky woman smoking this elegant cigarette in the night. The movement of this flash piece closely follows the movement of the eerie-mythological and mysterious music in the background. As she feels emotion, the music speeds up. As she feels sorrow for the loss of the figure that she is in love with the music slows… the spotlight is on her showing her audience her emotion. The figure continually reappears with the smoke coming from the cigarette.

The figure turns into a heart – beating for the one she loves. Is this a lost love? Is she in love with the smoky figure? Does she long for love?

This movie is very adaptable to the audience abroad. Many whom feel a longing for someone they loved, want to love, or just have an emotion about their current lover can relate to this flash movie.

Inspirational Awakening

This flash movie is quite different than the previous movies I have commented about in my Bloggs, The Awakening is remarkably simple yet effective movie with the aim of inspiration. This movie, and others in the collection remind me of the inspirational posters and desk calendars that are seen in the malls. Each scene starts off with a beautiful natural backdrop. The poems come on the screen shortly after.

All of these inspirational thoughts flow well with these backgrounds. As the mood of the inspirational thought changes, so does the background.

There is available on this site, a wide variety of different themes and inspirational movies.

Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler

I watched this creative flash presentation at http://theplasticbox.com. This animation was very proficient on movement. The techniques and color choices used were simple-yet really creative and effectively portrayed the events in their time period.

The opening of the flash movie was real similar to older classics where there would be several title pages making the audience aware of the back-story.

Black grey and white were the choice of colors in this animation. These color choices worked really well in showing the audience that this took place long ago in the 20's as it cast a classic feel and mood. These color choices also suggested a classic WW2 area plotline. The main feel of the movie gave me the feeling that is was at nighttime.

The smooth animation of the blimp landing on the train gave truth in the behavior of this air transport vehicle similarly as the jaggedness of the movement of the train also gave truth to the mechanical behavior of a land vehicle of the time. The sporadic brightness in the windows of the train gave illusion of activity as the train moved about the landscape. As the train moves about the landscape from the side-angle view, the audience sees grass in the foreground moving from right-to-left.

As the train progressed, the trees shrank in the background giving and perspective of forward movement. The jeep that was riding adjacent to the train had small bright glares wiggling in a short-semicircular motion suggesting that the tires were moving fast. The top of the train cars slightly shook back and fourth to show that the train was still in fast motion as the assailants were on the top trying to catch the people who had knowledge of the secret device.

As morning approached, the colors changed to a short, bright grayscale as opposed to three to four dark grey colors.

The plotline suggested to the audience that patience perseveres. The man attempted to open the box really early, as the audience quickly learns, the box fly’s off towards the direction of the sun. His impatience led to him unknowingly activating a security device in the machine. The machine knew to take off to protect the secret it kept inside.
