Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler

I watched this creative flash presentation at http://theplasticbox.com. This animation was very proficient on movement. The techniques and color choices used were simple-yet really creative and effectively portrayed the events in their time period.

The opening of the flash movie was real similar to older classics where there would be several title pages making the audience aware of the back-story.

Black grey and white were the choice of colors in this animation. These color choices worked really well in showing the audience that this took place long ago in the 20's as it cast a classic feel and mood. These color choices also suggested a classic WW2 area plotline. The main feel of the movie gave me the feeling that is was at nighttime.

The smooth animation of the blimp landing on the train gave truth in the behavior of this air transport vehicle similarly as the jaggedness of the movement of the train also gave truth to the mechanical behavior of a land vehicle of the time. The sporadic brightness in the windows of the train gave illusion of activity as the train moved about the landscape. As the train moves about the landscape from the side-angle view, the audience sees grass in the foreground moving from right-to-left.

As the train progressed, the trees shrank in the background giving and perspective of forward movement. The jeep that was riding adjacent to the train had small bright glares wiggling in a short-semicircular motion suggesting that the tires were moving fast. The top of the train cars slightly shook back and fourth to show that the train was still in fast motion as the assailants were on the top trying to catch the people who had knowledge of the secret device.

As morning approached, the colors changed to a short, bright grayscale as opposed to three to four dark grey colors.

The plotline suggested to the audience that patience perseveres. The man attempted to open the box really early, as the audience quickly learns, the box fly’s off towards the direction of the sun. His impatience led to him unknowingly activating a security device in the machine. The machine knew to take off to protect the secret it kept inside.
