Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler

I watched this creative flash presentation at http://theplasticbox.com. This animation was very proficient on movement. The techniques and color choices used were simple-yet really creative and effectively portrayed the events in their time period.

The opening of the flash movie was real similar to older classics where there would be several title pages making the audience aware of the back-story.

Black grey and white were the choice of colors in this animation. These color choices worked really well in showing the audience that this took place long ago in the 20's as it cast a classic feel and mood. These color choices also suggested a classic WW2 area plotline. The main feel of the movie gave me the feeling that is was at nighttime.

The smooth animation of the blimp landing on the train gave truth in the behavior of this air transport vehicle similarly as the jaggedness of the movement of the train also gave truth to the mechanical behavior of a land vehicle of the time. The sporadic brightness in the windows of the train gave illusion of activity as the train moved about the landscape. As the train moves about the landscape from the side-angle view, the audience sees grass in the foreground moving from right-to-left.

As the train progressed, the trees shrank in the background giving and perspective of forward movement. The jeep that was riding adjacent to the train had small bright glares wiggling in a short-semicircular motion suggesting that the tires were moving fast. The top of the train cars slightly shook back and fourth to show that the train was still in fast motion as the assailants were on the top trying to catch the people who had knowledge of the secret device.

As morning approached, the colors changed to a short, bright grayscale as opposed to three to four dark grey colors.

The plotline suggested to the audience that patience perseveres. The man attempted to open the box really early, as the audience quickly learns, the box fly’s off towards the direction of the sun. His impatience led to him unknowingly activating a security device in the machine. The machine knew to take off to protect the secret it kept inside.

BANNED

A View of Trick Or Treat by Todd Galina

The scene opens up with a bunch of young kids going out on Halloween night ready to Trick or Treat. They knock on a door and to their surprise, there is no answer. In retaliation for no candy, they decide to use most of their supply of toilet paper to decorate the house.

To the three young kids surprise, a "monster" opens the front door scaring the heck out of them. The audience is taken back by the hilarious movement in the children’s pats as it is assumed a heaping pile of dung lays in their costume. The funnier part comes when the children realize that they don't have enough toilet paper to go around as it is hanging on the house.

The drastic black bold outlines, and choice of colors that reflect the season give the audience a feel of Halloween. The movement, simple-but-effective is shown throughout with the gesture of the children knocking on the doors and awaiting an answer and by other simple movements throught the piece.

All-in-all, the color choices, sounds and overall artistic style along with the hilarious plot-line gives this adult animation huge thumbs up.

Everything Girl Whhoowie!

I checked out a cool movie at http://myscene.everythinggirl.com/webisodes/webisodes.aspx I clicked on the folder tab numbered "5" and chose the movie "chillin out" witch was the first movie available under the #5 tab.

The movie was about a cool winter day on the slopes where an attractive "medic" was on duty at the slopes watching the ladies and gents ski. The colors chosen for this skit are very simple, and used very wisely. White is the dominant color of this scene as it's the dominant color of the season.

The motion came from the falling snow and the color of the guy's hair. There was more motion shown from the color choice rather than actual motion from the slide-show, however, some of the movement came when the girl threw the snow in the air, and a window closed around her eye as she winked to the other girls. She did this when she faked a fall to gain the attention of the attractive medic. The wink suggests to her audience that she was not hurt, rather she was using this as a technique to gain his attention.

Just prior to the party/club sence, the audience sees a blue filter layer to show that it is now nightime.

Another effective technique used was seen when the two end up meeting together at the club. The fire in the background started to move as the scene became "hot". When the gentleman asked the lady to dance, they became more apparent in the scene by the way the back drop fell towards the back of the scene and they became larger. This type of movement suggests to the audience that there was some romance or romantic feeling between the two at that point.
